Thank you from the team. For this post I am going
to try and acknowledge all of those that gave their support this year to help allow our team to move up the rankings to number
five in the world. This post might be long but probably not long enough to cover everyone who helped us.
My first thank you has to go to my team members.
Anyone who has trained with me knows it is no picnic, and these guys took it and came back for more. Now
there was some cussing, I think Kimnach cried some, Woolery nearly died dragging the dummy, Cale finally pushed till he puked,
and although he never said it out loud Healey mentally swore at me more than once while I “motivated” him….
Next the women behind the men… I will
start with my wife Jen, who was a constant supporter even through the hundred bad times. Next Cale’s
wife Andrea a.k.a. “Camera Girl” a.k.a. “Lady Woolery”, not only did she make the trip to Vegas but
ran the camera the whole time. Now she wasn’t the only one to make the trip, Woolery’s girlfriend
Mandy and Marc’s wife Denise came out to support. Luckily the three of them looked good enough to
get us into a sold out Vegas club on Saturday night. Finally from home Healey’s wife Debbie had the
hardest job of all, single handedly watching their three kids while John went out to Vegas. Thank all of
you Ladies.
Family and Friends also provided
support out in Vegas. Woolery’s Mom and Stepdad were great supporters all week. Kimnach’s
parents, brother and sister in-law made the trip. And there was a great surprise visit from my best friend
Travis, his wife Lily and my goddaughter Cara. Also support from the two other Omaha teams out there was
great and much appreciated.
Now
for the support from back home. Lets start by thanking the members of Local 385 for covering all the trades
needed for different competitions. Those with special thanks for the last minute trades for Vegas are Chief
Forehead, Lance Arp, Troy Vanacek, Rob Fox, Mike York, Steve Orduna, and Mark Johnson. Next thank you to
the union officers, especially President Darren Bates and Vice President Frank Corcoran. They supported
all year and really came through in the last moments to help arrange for the time needed for the team’s trip.
Omaha Fire management stepped up this year and Chief McDonnell and his staff made tons of allowances to help promote
fitness through supporting the challenge.
Finally thank
you to the financial supporters of the team. These local businesses helped take the burden off the team
and made the travel to competitions possible. Thank you Leafproof, Two Fine Irishmen, Nebraska Academy
of Martial Arts, West Omaha Chiropractic, US Data, Silver Ridge, and Photo Omaha

Team Local 385/Omaha Fire takes 5th in the World!!! Team Local 385/Omaha Fire
is back from World Finals in Las Vegas. Firefighters from all over the world took over downtown Las Vegas
for a grueling week of competition. Teams came from all over the US and Canada and as far away as Germany
and New Zealand. The first three days were the preliminaries and teams fought for one of the 18 spots in
the finals on Friday night. Then Friday night in front of thousands of spectators Local 385/Omaha Fire
came through big by taking 5th place in the world.
On top of the great team accomplishment there were many individual victories with Cale Good, John Woolery
and John Healey all setting new personal records. In addition Marc Kimnach reached his goal of being in
the top 10 in the over 40 division by taking 8th place.
Within
the next week or two I will get pictures, videos and more stories from the trip updated on the site. Also
the competition will air on the Versus network in January and I will pass those dates along as soon as we get them.
