The Competition

First Place Team St Louis Regional 2009

The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge is a competition that allows firefighters from around the world to test themselves against each other on a course with obsticles common to the firefighting profession. In past years this was televised on ESPN now it is carried on the Versus network. The challenge consist of about 12-15 regional qualifying events across the country with a world championship held in November. There are five stages of the course consisting of:

Stair climb- Ascend a 5 story tower carrying a 45 lb high rise pack.
Hose hoist- Hoist a 45lb hose roll up the 5 story tower.
Forcible entry- Drive a 160lb block the distance of 5 ft using a 9lb shot mallet.
Hose advance- Zigzag 140ft between hydrants then advance a charged hose 75 feet and hit a target.
Victim rescue- drag a 175lb "dummy" a distance of 100ft to the finish line.

Our team was started in 2005 and has made steady gains every year with 2008 promising to be the best yet. Some of our team accomplishments are:

August 2007 Fourth place team Sioux Falls, South Dakota regional event.
November 2007 team inducted into Lion's Den at Las Vegas, Nevada World Finals
May 2008 First place team Sioux Falls, South Dakota regional event.
May 2008 Second place individual over 40 Sioux Falls, South Dakota Regional Event.
May 2008 Third place relay Sioux Falls South Dakota Regional event.
July 2008 First place in Cutters Edge Truck Challenge San Diego California Regional Event.
August 2008 First place team Omaha, Nebraska Regional event.
August 2008 Second place relay Omaha, Nebraska Regional event.
August 2008 First place individual over 40 category Omaha, Nebraska regional event.
September 2008 Third place team Milwaukee, Wisconsin regional event.
